About the artist:
Kevin O’Rourke is part of a new generation of Chicago artists. Unencumbered by rules, they bridge wide varieties of artistic disciplines in their work. Kevin’s work fuses elements of graphic design and advertising verve into frenetic rock art. During his prolific career, Kevin has produced concert posters for everybody from The Flaming Lips and Flogging Molly, to Sonic Youth and Ween. Kevin has designed over 30 bout posters for nationally ranked flat track roller derby league,The Detroit Derby Girls. The posters have been featured in and around Detroit’s print publications and music venues, and have been recognized for design excellence on a national stage.
A graduate of Kendall College of Art and Design in Grand Rapids, Michigan,Kevin cut his artistic teeth doing motion and graphic design in Detroit. Currently working s Graphics Director, Kevin mixes a combination of digital and traditional illustration, contemporary and classic design, and typography and cell animation tocreate complete and complementary motion graphics for the award-winning creative editorial boutique, Red Car Chicago. In 2010, Kevin executed a complete motion design package for The History Channel’s Emmy-nominated “Third Reich: The Rise and Fall.” Also in 2010, Kevin’s talents were recognized for the AICE awards in the Best Design category for the new media presentation “NEXTEK.” Kevin is currently a resident artist at the Fulton Street Collective, a true artist cooperative that provides support and resources to its creative community. His linoleum block prints of classic Detroit and Chicago neighborhoods embody his passion for both cities. His scrappy Irish countenance reveals his tendency to forgo artistic arrogance and move between the realm of fine art and more commercially accessible graphic design.

I fucking love the Aragon ballroom. I’m so lucky to have seen the Pixies play there.
These Chicago themed posters are just amazing.
